It seems ironic that Roger Ebert was robbed of his voice, considering how much he has to say. Now the Chicago Sun-Times movie critic whose battle with thyroid cancer took away his voice is readying a new television show that will allow him to “speak” once more to the many people, including many of us parents, who rely on his reviews as a guideline of which movies to see. He types in the words and a computer voice spits them back out, allowing him to “talk” electronically from a jaw that is disconcerting, upon first view. But the critic clearly hasn’t lost anything in the smarts department – I follow him on Twitter, and at least once a day one of his sage observations has me laughing.
