TROY -- Third-graders from Troy's Public School No. 2 spent Thursday at The Arts Center of Capital Region to begin the African Folk Tales Project. The project will culminate in a song- and music-filled performance based on the folk tale Anansi, the Tiger and the Firefly, which the students will perform at their school in February.
The students were making papier mache ostrich eggs that would be used on stage in their production.
This is the second year that third-graders from the school are working with the Arts Center. This year's project is focusing on the culture and history of the African Nation of Nigeria.
The plan going forward is to have students explore a different country in Africa each year.
