Israel asked Palestinians to kill militant: report
Senior Israeli and Palestinian officials discussed killing a Palestinian militant British security and urged Palestinian police to arrest Hamas leaders, leaked documents suggested Tuesday night.

Documents cited what it said was a 2005 conversation between Palestinian Interior Minister Nasr Yussef and Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz, in which they discussed the murder of a prominent activist, Hassan al-Madhoun.

The report by Al Jazeera television quoted Mofaz as Yousef asked: "Why not kill"

"We gave instructions to the Rasheed (Chief Palestinian West Bank security) (Abu Shabak) and we'll see," said Yousef.

Madhoun, the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a militant group linked to Fatah group of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, was killed in an Israeli missile strike in the Gaza Strip since late 2005, when the Minister Mofaz Holding RE-ordered the murder of targeted militants in the mall after a bomb killed five Israelis.

The discussion is reported in more than 1,600 files detail a decade of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians as Al-Jazeera started to sink late on Sunday.

The last batch also show that the UK Secret Intelligence Service, MI6, suggested a plan to promote the Palestinian security services to hold Palestinians without trial in an attempt to weaken militant groups like al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and the armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

A British newspaper analyzed supposed "to lose the ability to" groups "of the interruption of communications management and command and control."

"It could also explore the temporary leader of Hamas and Islamic Jihad (PIJ) digits, making sure they are well treated, with funding from the EU," he said.
